ANNA DUNN - PARENT CARER/LEARNING DISABILITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER
I would like to introduce myself as Anna Dunn; I am the Learning Disability/Parent Carer Development Worker working within the CRASH team.
I have worked for North Staffs Carers Association for almost two years now, and previous worked as Secondary Care Co-ordinator for the Link Team.
Working with the CRASH team is a challenge and that was exactly what I wanted, as much as I loved working within Secondary Care I unfortunately missed the hands on interaction with Carers and the people they care for. Having worked in learning disability residential homes before, I wanted to be given the chance to use my knowledge and bubbly personality to provide Carers with the service, support and advice I have. North Staffs Carers Association has given me the opportunity to do this and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge. As a team Joanne, Lynn and myself work exceptionally well together pooling our knowledge and experiences to provide Carers with the best possible service, and ultimately learning from the experts, You as Carers to continually improve the service we provide.
As a dynamic team we aim to enable Carers to be more aware of their own health needs, encourage you to lead a healthy lifestyle. Part of our role is to involve Carers in local group activities helping to reduce isolation and increase autonomy. Ultimately enabling Carers to feel empowered and confident in their caring role. We hope to achieve this through continual one to one support from a range of services we can provide. From myself as a development worker to an appropriate befriender who will be able to accommodate Carers needs and provide them with an ongoing service where Carers will feel comfortable and confident.
The project has already taken off beyond our expectations and is evidently providing a much needed service for the vast amount of informal Carers in North Staffordshire, I am also pleased to say that the funding for this project is also five years, so you wont get rid of me in the near future.
I look forward to meeting as many Carers as I can, Please do not hesitate to get in touch, we will do our up most to find someone who can.
CHRISTINE MORGAN
Hi my name is Christine Morgan and I joined the CRASH team in August. I have taken over from Jo Plant as the Older Persons/Mental Health Development Worker. (I hope I can match the excellent work that Jo completed.)
Well 3 months into the job and I am still bouncing out of bed in the morning and looking forward to each new day. The team is great and everyone is really supportive, this is a great organisation to work with. The best part of the job so far has been meeting some amazing Carers who give 110% in their caring roles.
My role is to give high level support to those Carers who are at crisis point this might mean making referrals to various other agencies, as well as a shoulder to cry on or an ear to let off steam in. You will find me at the Well-being support groups, St Michaels and The Meadows. Give us a call to check the dates or to arrange a one to one visit.
I've just been told about the Carer's Christmas party on December 10th, it sounds like great fun, so if we don't meet before I look forward to meeting you then.
GINA GADD
Hi. My name is Gina Gadd. I joined North Staffordshire Carers Association in August and since then have been learning the ropes. It appears that the Association delivers a really valuable service to those who access it with much of the service being around signposting and emotional support. I hope to become a valuable asset to the well established team.
