Golden Memories in the Community
The Golden Memories Activity Group hasallowed North Staffs Carers to
replicate the popular Amazing Memories
Social Support Group which runs fortnightly
at the Carers Centre and also facilitate drop
in sessions where Carers can access one to
one support with a Support Worker.
Groups and drop in sessions are run throughout North Staffordshire to allow Carers to access support within their local community.
The groups provide opportunity for Carers/people with Dementia to socialise, engage and be involved in many activities, incorporating a number of communication tools/activities aimed at promoting wellbeing and inclusion.
Weekly drop in sessions which are held at the same locations as the groups on a different week/day allowing more access to support and advice. These sessions are facilitated by a Support Worker who has a good working knowledge of local neighbourhoods so that they can advise of services and support available in that area and signpost as appropriate.
At both the groups and drop in sessions Carers can receive relevant up to date information, support, practical advice and skills to assist them in their caring role.
The project allows accessibility to all people within their local community, helping to build relationships with Carers, the person with Dementia, their family and the wider community.
For more information regarding the groups and drop in sessions
please telephone the Carers Centre on 01782 793100.
