Befriending
The Befriending Project provides a befriending service to Carers of people with:
Mental Ill Health
Learning Disabilities
Physical / Sensory Disabilities
Children with a Disability
What is befriending?
A befriender is a volunteer who spends time each week with a Carer on a one to one basis.
How does the Project Support Volunteers?
Before placement, befrienders complete a training course, which focuses on Carer awareness, and is designed to build upon personal qualities and increase confidence in carrying out the befriending role
The Aims of the Carers Befriending Project are to:
-
Offer companionship and relieve isolation for Carers.
-
Support Carers to get out and about in the community.
-
Visit Carers in their own home.
-
Provide support through a telephone befriending service
