Young Carers life chances and aspirations can be affected as a result of difficulties encountered within education as a result of a caring role.

After consultation with Young Carers, key findings were :

​

100% of Young Carers felt that their education had been affected due to their caring role.

​

88% of Young Carers did not feel that their needs were understood at school/college.

​

Young Carers unanimously agreed that they would like to see more training in school for teachers and pupils around the issues that Young Carers.

 

Many Young Carers struggle engaging, experiencing problems with attendance, performance, attaining qualifications, stigma and bullying.

​

Our Young Carers Department recognises these issues and offer Young Carer Awareness Raising sessions for both educational professionals and pupils.

​

Awareness Raising Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the session delivery.
